主要适用于被干燥物料不允许被污染，或应用于温度较低的热敏性物料干燥。如：奶粉、制药、合成树脂、精细化工等。

间接式热风炉的本质问题就是热交换。热交换面积越大，热转换率越高，热风炉的节能效果越好，炉体及换热器的寿命越长。反之，热交换面积的大小也可以从烟气温度上加以识别。烟温越低，热转换率越高，热交换面积就越大。
